DON HUKARI was born in Hood River, Oregon, in 1949. He completed his formal
education at San Jose State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in
Industrial Design. He moved to Sonora, California in 1974 to open a commercial design
studio, which he continues to operate.
Don's unique style has become popular in the Sierra foothills through showings at Columbia College, the Central Sierra Arts Council, Aardvarks Gallery, Anne Saunders Gallery, Pinecrest Fine Arts Gallery, and the Bradford Studios. He frequently exhibits with the Four Winds Arts Cooperative in communities in the Central Valley and the Sierra; and he has shown in San Francisco at the Chapson Art Vision Gallery. Awards include the Mother Lode Fair and Calaveras County Fair.
In 1985, his serigraph "Yosemite Renaissance" was
elected by the Yosemite Association for their annual poster calendar. His "Clavey
Confluence" print was presented by the Tuolumne River Preservation Trust to
Congressman Richard Lehman in 1987, and hung in his Capital office. Don's friends and
collectors have made his own annual calendar a foothill tradition. His work may be seen at
the Bradford Studios, in Sonora.
